Thermococci (Термококки) — класс Эвриархеот^[1][2], состоит из единственного семейства Thermococcaceae (3 рода, более 30 известных видов), которое является самым многочисленная семейством в домене архей. Вероятно, изучена лишь небольшая часть существующих в природе видов этого класса^[3].

Характеризуются очень высокой температурой оптимального роста (80 °С выше) при pH среды близкой к нейтральной (оптимум у большинства лежит в пределах 6-8) и солёности, близкой к солёности морской воды. Наиболее частые места обитания — подводные гидротермальные источники. Представители рода Thermococcus обнаружены также в наземных гидротермах Новой Зеландии. Сведений об обитании термококков в аэробных и низкотемпературных экосистемах и в средах с высоким или низким pH в настоящее время нет^[3].
