    Seasons in Liga I

    Season 2005/2006

In the first year of Liga I, SC Vaslui's owner decided to bring players with a lot of experience in the Romanian fooball. His first signing was the ex-Steaua player Claudiu Răducanu. He was transferred by SC Vaslui from the German team Arminia Bielefeld for free. Ngassam Falemi, Sabin Ilie and Ionuţ Badea were just a few players who signed for SC Vaslui after Răducanu. The team coach was named Basarab Panduru previously Poli Timişoara.

The first game was against Rapid Bucureşti, a match won by the Rapid with a score of 1-0. The next game meant the first point in the first league, a 1-1 against Gloria Bistriţa. After 3 defeats, Basarab Panduru decided to resign and the new coach was named Mircea Rednic.

The new coach didn't succeed too much in the first half of the season, only 5 points, but in the last match SC Vaslui was very close to the first win in the Divizia A, against Steaua Bucureşti (but the match finished 2-2). After Sorin Frunză disappointed as a captain for the team, Ionuţ Badea took the captaincy until the 25th game of the season. In the winter break , SC Vaslui decided to break up for the players who disappointed in the first half, and players like Claudiu Răducanu, Ngassam Falemi, Sabin Ilie, Dejan Pesic, Gabriel Kajcsa, George Şoltuz, Ionuţ Voicu, Darko Maletic were out.

Instead, Marius Croitoru, Sebastian Sfârlea, Sebastian Huţan, Adrian Mihalcea, Cătălin Cursaru and Milorad Bukvic were signed.

As a result in the 17th match of the season, SC Vaslui finally won a match against Gloria Bistriţa (2-0) the scorers being the new signings Croitoru and Bukvic. After a new serie of defeats, SC Vaslui again won against FC Arges with 3-0, a match who was suspected by Cornel Penescu as an arranged game.

After 2 victories against FC Naţional and Pandurii Târgu-Jiu, and 2 draws with Oţelul Galaţi and Poli Timişoara, SC Vaslui finally won a game against a top team. FC Dinamo Bucureşti received SC Vaslui in Ştefan cel Mare stadium and they were defeated by the future Steaua Bucureşti players Croitoru and Badea. In the 29th match, SC Vaslui has assured that the next season will be playing in the Liga I , after a 2-0 win against the relegated FCM Bacău.

In the final match, SC Vaslui received the visit of Steaua Bucureşti, a team who needed a victory to assure the Championship. Unsurprisingly, Steaua won, but that 4-0 score was contested by the Rapid Bucureşti officials and in the next day Adrian Porumboiu decided to retire from sponsoring SC Vaslui.

After Steaua Bucureşti won the title, Gigi Becali started negotiations for Valentin Badea and Bogdan Panait. Steaua paid for the players 1.2 million $. In that summer, Sebastian Huţan signed with the Russian team Dinamo Moskova, Adrian Mihalcea signed for the Cypriot team AEL Limassol and Sebastian Sfârlea signed for SC Vaslui's arch rivals Politehnica Iaşi. Players like Ilie Baicu , Cătălin Cursaru and Ionuţ Badea decided to leave the SC Vaslui team , and to sign with another teams.

Mircea Rednic decided to leave SC Vaslui and to sign for FC Dinamo Bucureşti (Regarding the final match of the season another controversy rises from the departure of Mircea Rednic: Steaua Bucureşti needed to win the Championship , for Dinamo Bucureşti to play in a European Cup).
