ROM (MUD)

ROM (Rivers of MUD) — популярная кодовая база, предназначенная для создания многопользовательских миров (МПМ или MUD). Создана на основе Merc, который, в свою очередь, является потомком DikuMUD.

Russ Taylor (Alander) выпустил открытый код ROM 2.3 в 1993 году.

Наиболее известной стала последняя публично-доступная версия ROM 2.4b, выпущенная в мае 1998 года.

Оригинальный ROM MUD после нескольких лет молчания вновь заработал по адресу telnet rom.org 9000

Стоит, однако, заметить, что некоторые из вышеупомянутых миров на данный момент уже настолько эволюционировали, что корректнее будет говорить уже об их собственных кодовых особенностях. Ярким примером является Опасная Фантазия 2 (DF2), в настоящее время в которой более 80% кода является свежим и никак не связанным с изначальными ROM-овскими элементами.
