«Battery» — первая песня третьего студийного альбома Master of Puppets метал-группы Metallica. Текст песни посвящён общей теме альбома — манипуляции, и в частности — запугиванию насилием. Используемое в заглавии и припеве слово battery (англ. батарея) одновременно означает артиллерийское подразделение, элемент электропитания и часть юридического термина, называющего нанесение оскорбления действием. То есть слово ассоциируется одновременно с созданием огневой мощи, генерированием электрического тока и нанесением побоев. Также следует учитывать, что на испанском (одном из распространённых языков в Калифорнии, где живут авторы и исполнители песни) созвучно называются ударные инструменты (batería) и при этом созвучную фамилию (Bathory) носит самый массовый согласно книге Гиннесса серийный убийца Эржебет Батори, а «родной» для музыкантов клуб Old Waldorf Club расположен на улице Battery Street в Сан-Франциско. Каждая из версий истолкования заглавия песни, не противореча друг другу, по своему способна объяснить общую динамичность музыкальной композиции и тематическую агрессивность текста песни, что выразилось и в подчёркнутом прерывании ритм-секцией акустического вступления песни.
