Fleet in being (англ. Fleet in being — «имеющийся в наличии флот») — принцип стратегического применения военно-морских сил. Первое применение данного термина относится к 1690 году, когда командующий Королевским флотом адмирал лорд Торрингтон отказался от решающего боя с французской эскадрой и сковывал её действия самим фактом наличия на морском театре мощной корабельной группировки, готовой в любой момент перейти к активным операциям.


По мнению специалистов, распространённый в 17—20 веках принцип Fleet in being был дискредитирован с развитием родов сил флота, в особенности морской авиации и подводных лодок[1].
