E-mu Emulator

E-mu Emulator — серия цифровых семплеров компании E-mu Systems, производимая с 1982 по 1990 годы. Инструменты снискали большую популярность среди музыкантов играющих в стилях New Wave и синти-поп благодаря прежде всего низкой цене и размерам, позволяющим брать инструмент с собой в турне.

История

E-mu Systems была основана в 1971 и поначалу специализировалась на производстве микрочипов и компонентов для электронных инструментов. В 1979 основатели компании, Скотт Ведж и Дэйв Россам увидели Fairlight CMI и Linn LM-1, два чуда тогдашней музыкальной техники, и это натолкнуло их на идею производить недорогие сэмплерные клавиатуры.

E-mu Emulator I

Выпущеный в 1982, первый аппарат представлял из себя рабочую станцию с клавиатурой и был снабжен дисководом гибких дисков, что позволяло владельцу создавать свою собственную библиотеку звуков и записывать их на дискету.

Самый первый экземпляр, под номером «Serial number 001» достался Стиви Уандеру, так как он высоко оценил аппарат на выставке музыкальных инструментов NAMM в 1981 году, а его имя поспособствовало рекламе инструмента. Производство The Emulator прекратилось в конце 1983.
