1) преим. в эпоху царейследователь или судья по уголовным делам (q. parricidii Vr)
2) в эпоху республики и цезарейвысший финансовый чиновник, казначей (quaestores urbani или aerarii C etc.)
3) при цезарях — quaestores Caesaris или principis PJ, T, Lampr, CTh чиновники, зачитывавшие в сенате императорские речи или указы
