New Town

Происходящий из Великобритании термин New Town (англ. "новый город") обозначает город, спланированный и построенный на базе современных функциональных точек зрения; такой город может прилегать к уже существующему поселению. Задача таких городов в основном сводиться к разгрузке крупных агломерационных центров.

New Town включает в себя торговый и развлекательный центр города, жилые и промышленные районы.

В Великобритании существует 31 New Town (например, Милтон-Кинс), в Израиле были основаны 30, из них 19 — при отсутствии исходного поселения. Примерами в других странах являются Вольфсбург, Зеннештадт, Хохдаль (Эркрат), Айзенхюттенштадт в Германии, Лейштадт и Эммелоорд в Нидерландах, Серги-Понтуаз и Марне-ле-Валле около Парижа, Ёрестад (дат. Ørestad) — район датской столицы Копенгаген, Бразилиа в Бразилии, Чандигарх в Индии, Канберра в Австралии и множество городов в России, например, Тольятти.
