Power Noise

Power noise (также известный, как powernoise, rhythmic noise, noize и иногда distorted beat music) — это музыкальный стиль, находящийся между Post-Industrial музыкой, драм-энд-бейс, hardcore techno или breakcore, берущий своё начало из раннего industrial, такого как Esplendor Geometrico, которых принято считать крёстными отцами данного направления.

Термин «power noise» был предложен Раулем Роукка из Noisex в 1997 году, с треком «United (Power Noise Movement)». Обычно power noise основывается на рваных битах, воспроизводимых, например, установкой Roland TR-909, также используя военные 4/4 ритмы и в целом инструментальную составляющую. В целом это структурированная, ритмичная, основанная на большой дозе noise музыка. Иногда добавляется и мелодичная компонента, но она вторична, по отношению к ритму. Под power noise треки можно танцевать. Этот жанр представлен на ежегодных фестивалях: Maschinenfest в городе Крефельд, Германия и Брэдфорд, Великобритания.

Такие группы Dulce Liquido также частично принадлежат жанру

Стиль «power noise» не надо путать с другим стилем «Power Electronics», являющимся поджанром noise.

В настоящее время термин «Power Noise» подвергается критике как недостаточно корректный для описания данного музыкального направления. Сам Roul Roucka предлагает термин «Distorted Beat Music».
