Lagonda — это британский производитель легковых автомобилей класса «люкс». Компания была основана в 1906 году^[1] Уилбуром Ганном (Wilbur Gunn, 1859—1920)^[2] и названа в честь реки, протекавшей близ города Спрингфилд, штат Огайо, США, неподалёку от места, где он родился^[3][4]. С 1947 года марка Lagonda принадлежит Aston Martin.

Основание

В начале XX века Уилбур Ганн выпускал собственные мотоциклы в небольшом количестве^[2]. Один из его мотоциклов успешно участвовал в заезде Лондон—Эдинбург в 1905 году. В 1907 году Ганн построил свой первый автомобиль с 6-цилиндровым двигателем и мощностью 20 л. с., на котором он выиграл гонку Москва—Санкт-Петербург в 1910 году^[2]. В довоенный период также выпускался небольшой автомобиль с двигателем объёмом 1000 см³, стабилизатором поперечной устойчивости, несущим кузовом и ручным тормозом.

В годы Первой мировой войны Lagonda производила артиллерийские снаряды.^[2]
