Электрохимическая реакция.
Реакция, вызванная прохождением электрического тока через среду, которая содержит подвижные ионы (как при электролизе); или, спонтанная реакция, вызвавшая электрический ток через внешний проводник в этой среде (как в гальваническом элементе). В любом случае, электрическое соединение проведено к внешнему блоку цепи через пару электродов.
